Prisoners of the Usinsky camp outpost of Pechorzheldorlag who died in the camp infirmary in the 1940s and early 1950s were buried in a cemetery 500 metres away. The barracks where the prisoners lived were on the other side of the railway. The camp outpost was closed in the mid-1950s.
In the 1970s part of the cemetery was destroyed when electricity transmission wires were laid. In June 2006 the territory of the camp outpost and the cemetery was studied by an exploratory group from the Inta museum of history and local studies and the Pokayanie foundation, led by N.A. Baranov. The group also erected a birch memorial cross at the site.
(The map of the camp outpost shows: [1] the industrial zone; [2] the camp outpost; [3] the infirmary; and [4] the burial ground in relation to the Usa river and the Usa and Abez rail stations. Drawn by N.A. Baranov in 2006.)
